Now that the holidays are over and family visits have come to an end, I finally have the motivation to get back on the blogging wagon. The wheels are a little rusty, but here we go.
Baby Burch is just over 18 weeks! Hurrah! I feel as though he has grown considerably in the last month (as evidenced by that stomach...eek!). Apparently he's about 5 1/2" long, and is doing all sorts of cool stuff like yawning and hiccuping! (A not so fun part of Baby growing? Out of control back pain. No thanks.)
In a few weeks we'll have an ultrasound and we both are ludicrously excited to find out whether Baby Burch is a boy or a girl! I have a feeling it is a boy...but we'll see. My parents-in-law gave me a sewing machine for Christmas, so as soon as we find out, I'm going to set to work on making things. I've been a pinterest maniac regarding baby clothes these days, and have been getting all sorts of ideas. They don't look as though they'd be that hard to make...right?

Naturally, the holidays brought with them extensive feasting. I'm not complaining in the least. (I'm right on track with what's considered "healthy" weight gain, which I am glad of, especially since I lost so much weight in the first trimester. Thank you, Christmas, for getting me back on track!) But now that we are not eating rich and fatty foods (and white bread...so much delicious white bread...) all day long, I have an opportunity to keep better track of what I'm putting into my body on a daily basis. Alex and I, in general, eat very healthily. We (almost) never eat processed foods, rarely eat sugar, and don't drink soda. So luckily, I don't have to cut anything from my current diet, but these days I'm making even more of an effort to get all the necessary vitamins I need.
On the food plan for this week there is lots of greek yogurt (Trader Joe's individual greek yogurts are an obsession of mine. The pomegranate is my favourite...), some fish, plenty of eggs, and tons of fresh organic fruits and vegetables. I'm still having a hard time with getting meat into my system. It doesn't make me sick, I just never want to eat it. Oh well; I'm fine with eggs and greek yogurt for now.

I think that if every woman in the world wore maternity pants instead of regular pants, the world would be a much kinder and happier place. Mom Burch picked two pairs of maternity jeans up for me at Destination Maternity and I literally cannot stop wearing them.
These from AG Jeans have the full panel (which I love--no stomach pressure, plus there's the perk of feeling like you're wearing leggings...).
And these have the stretchy side panels, which are also super comfortable. They've definitely made dressing for my new size so much easier and less depressing. When you have jeans that fit and are comfortable, the world is so much better.

My sister showed me this Buzzfeed article entitled If Shakespeare Had Written Star Wars. As a lover of both Shakespeare and Star Wars, it's really hilarious.

Alex and I watched Joss Whedon's new production of Much Ado About Nothing recently, and it was really excellent. (Perhaps standing on par with Kenneth Branagh's oh so lovable version?) If in need of an date-night-in, Much Ado would be a delightful film choice.
